The event saw an overwhelming turnout, with attendees filling every available space - only standing room was left, making it a resounding success.
The presentation was nothing short of a sell-out event, with eager villagers flooding The Victoria Rooms. This tremendous show of community support emphasised the shared commitment to keeping a vital part of Milverton alive—the village pub.
One of the highlights of the evening was the opening presentation from Stephen Hoole, former Chairman of Halse Community Benefit Society, which has successfully opened and maintained the New Inn at Halse. Stephen talked about the journey Halse has travelled to rally the community, raise finances, purchase and decorate/repurpose The New Inn and the decisions they made about how to run the pub.
During the presentation, Milverton Community Benefit Society also emphasised their commitment to open and clear communication. They expressed their willingness to keep the community informed about the steps they are taking in this endeavor. This commitment to transparency ensures that every villager is part of the journey to secure a future for the village pub.
The audience asked insightful questions that underscored their genuine interest in the cause. This open and engaging dialogue clearly showed the community's collective determination to find solutions and support their local pub.
The feedback from those in attendance has been overwhelmingly positive. It is clear that the community is not only enthusiastic but also eager to contribute to the efforts to retain a pub within the village. The event's success is a testament to the unity of purpose that permeates Milverton.
Closing with a Powerful Message
The presentation ended with a powerful and unifying message: "It is our collective responsibility to avoid calling Time on The Globe." These closing words resonated deeply with everyone in attendance, serving as a poignant reminder of the importance of their mission and the need to act collectively to ensure the future of The Globe. This heartfelt declaration serves as a rallying cry for the entire community to come together and preserve a cherished institution that holds a special place in Milverton's history and identity.
